Division 4.1 - Research Profile and Intellectual Property Management

 

The Division of Research Profile and Intellectual Property Management belongs to the Department of Research with RWTH Aachen Central University Administration.

 

The research profile of RWTH is reflected and highlighted in the profile areas. In these, researchers from various disciplines and faculties work together to transfer results from foundational and applied research to drive innovations that impact global challenges. They use state-of-the-art infrastructures, coordinate their research activities, and establish large research networks.

The Exploratory Research Space, ERS for short, is a central instrument at RWTH Aachen University to promote interdisciplinary research and to develop new areas that have the potential to shape the university's research profile.

At RWTH Aachen University, research results are exploited in an ongoing exchange with partner organizations, social groups and industry. The RWTH employee invention processes are supported by IP management. Furthermore, IP Management acts as a competent liason between university and patent offices, patent attorneys and other partners involved in patenting, further developing or marketing the inventions and patents of RWTH Aachen University. In order to advance the various transfer processes in a targeted manner, the Research Profile and IP Management Division works in close collaboration with RWTH Innovation GmbH.
