Division 6.2 - Teaching and Learning
The Division "Academic Programs and Quality Assurance" is part of Department 6.0 - Planning, Development and Controlling within RWTH Aachen Central University Administration.
Our Responsibilities
The Teaching and Learning Division supports the strategic development of the University's Courses of Study and is responsible for quality assurance in teaching and learning.
Our team offers advice and assistance with questions concerning accreditation of degree programs and the evaluation of teaching. Furthermore, the Division supervises the implementation of the "Excellent Teaching" future strategy. In our activities, we are in close dialogue with the Vice-Rector for Teaching, the faculties and, importantly, the students. Also, we keep in close contact with all administrative units concerned with student affairs and with the University's IT Center.
Our services include support of all committees dealing with quality assurance in teaching and learning. Furthermore, we collect and analyze data related to quality assurance in teaching to support the faculty management and the student councils.
Your questions, our answers
For what measures does the University spend its Quality Improvement Funds?
These funds are used for universiy-wide and faculty-specific steps and measures. For further information, please see our web page on quality improvement measures.
Why do we need a quality management system for teaching?
RWTH Aachen has focused on excellent teaching since the beginning. This is filled with life particularly by engaged teachers and students. Good teaching can mean something different in every course of study. The goal of quality management is for the individuals involved to regularly and systematically discuss what is working and what can be improved. Different instruments are used as a foundation of data for these conversations.
