The Department of Staff Development and Talent Management is part of the Central University Administration and encompasses Division 12.1 Early-Career Researcher Development and Talent Management, Division 12.2 Staff and Leadership Development, and the Campus Management Competence Team.

 

Our Responsibilities

RWTH Aachen University is not only one of the most significant German universities and the largest employer in the local Städteregion – it is also a place where people learn, research, work, and interact with each other.

The staff at Department 12.0 will accompany you in discovering your potentials and talents, finding the right career path for you, and developing your skills in a targeted manner. They are happy to inform, advise, and support you at any time as a sparring partner and develop tools that you can use, for example, as a manager in your own staff development work with your team.

Career Development for Early-Career Researchers

Highly qualified young researchers are one of the most important factors for ensuring research competencies and the innovative spirit at RWTH in the long term. We therefore particularly want to support doctoral candidates, postdocs, and Advanced Talents in their interdisciplinary development and to point out attractive career opportunities within and outside of academia. Skills Development for Leaders

We are convinced that highly competent and contemporary leadership is the basis for a sustainable and healthy work culture and thus for excellence in research, teaching, and administration. We support prospective and experienced leaders with high-quality continuing education offerings, coaching, or individual consultations. Continuing Education for All Employees

The world of work is subject to constant change, leading to ever new requirements, activities, and job profiles. We support non-professorial academic staff plus technical and administrative employees with a contemporary and comprehensive range of seminars for individual qualification and further development.

Holistic Health Management

We are particularly conscious of creating learning, research, and working conditions at RWTH that are oriented to a healthy lifestyle. This also particularly applies to the health awareness of students and employees, which we actively promote through various different measures. You can get an overview in our Health Portal.

Identifying and Developing Talents

The competition for talents in science, research management, and administration requires universities to implement an effective talent acquisition strategy. Department 12 provides quality management services for appointment processes and ensures an equal opportunities recruitment process. Based on online research and social media monitoring we identify talents for an academic career at RWTH.
