Inclusion and Accessibility
Based on the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, RWTH's Inclusion Working Group has drawn up a six-year action plan for the University. On July 22, 2021, the Senate passed this action plan. In adopting it, the University calls upon all of its members to help implement the plan and contribute to making RWTH an inclusive university.
The main point of contact at the University for all questions regarding inclusion is the Rector's Staff Unit: Integration Team - Human Resources, Gender and Diversity Management, or IGaD for short. This is also where the initiatives are managed. You can find more information on disability and chronic illness and numerous helpful links through their Portal for Inclusion and Accessibility. Here are some particularly important topics for example: Studies, employees and education offers, accessible campus, accessible IT and teaching, inclusion research, and reporting barriers.
An inclusion agreement (Inklusionsvereinbarung, only in German) was already signed for RWTH employees in 2019. This agreement, contact details and other useful information can be found on the pages of the Representative Council for Staff with Disabilities. The Inclusive Education Officer (for short BIS for Beauftragte für inklusives Studium) has compiled a variety of information and offers consultations for students with disabilities and chronic illnesses.
If you notice any digital, structural or other obstacles to accessibility in the design of RWTH Aachen University's services, please do not hesitate to notify us of them using the reporting forms. We will make every effort to remove the remaining obstacles as quickly as possible.
