At the Chair of Geotechnical Engineering in Civil Engineering and the Institute for Geomechanics and Underground Technology, led by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Raul Fuentes, we work on the entire spectrum of geotechnical and tunnel construction applications in teaching, research, and scientific expert opinions.

Your Profile

Are you ready for an exciting challenge in the world of geotechnical engineering and computational mechanics? We look forward to candidates that fulfill the following requirements:

  • University degree (Master or equivalent) and a completed PhD
  • a good publishing record as well as
  • experience in geotechnical engineering and/or computational mechanics.

Special interest is given to applicants who have worked in the areas of geogrids, robotics, computational mechanics, geomechanics, ground freezing and/or artificial intelligence applied to geomechanics/geotechnical engineering.

German language skills are a big plus, but not a requirement.

Your Duties and Responsibilities

  • giving lectures,
  • supervising bachelor and master's students,
  • leading a group of PhD students,
  • writing funding proposals with the support of the institute,
  • Independent realisation of own, difficult research work that leads to high-quality publications. 

What We Offer

The successful candidate will be employed under a regular employment contract.
The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and offered for a fixed term of 2 years.
Continued employment for a total of up to 6 years is possible.
The fixed-term employment is possible as it constitutes one of the fixed-term options of the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (German Act on Fixed-term Scientific Contracts).
This is a full-time position.
The salary is based on the German public service salary scale (TV-L).
The position corresponds to a pay grade of EG 14 TV-L.
