Horizon Europe and Horizon 2020

The current EU Framework Program for Research and Innovation, Horizon Europe, is structured to support a wide range of projects from basic research to innovative product development. It provides funding to both individual researchers and collaborations between science and industry.

The European Union Section of Division 4.2, Management of Third-Party Funds, is happy to assist you in applying for and implementing EU projects. Our focus is on the EU Framework Program for Research and Innovation Horizon Europe. We will also be happy to advise you on the processing of ongoing projects from the predecessor program Horizon 2020, which ended on December 31, 2020. In addition, we can offer you targeted information and advice with respect to both the European Research Council, or ERC for short, and the European Institute for Technology, or EIT-KIC.

You can inform us about your new EU application by using our EU application announcement. You can also edit the project outline and / or the application announcement here. Please note that an application announcement is mandatory for projects that have an RWTH budget of more than 500,000 euros. However, an application announcement is also useful for projects with a lower funding amount, as we can then provide you with advice at an early stage, and this is particularly useful for special formats.

Are you planning to coordinate an EU project? Our EU project management team is happy to support you in the application process and assist you with administrative management in case of approval.

As a contact point for legal and financial questions we are ready to assist you with financial administration and contracting of EU projects.

Through our seminars and trainings we will gladly share exciting recent developments in EU research funding with you. Furthermore, we have compiled much helpful information for you about EU projects funded by the Horizon Europe program and EU projects funded by the Horizon 2020 program on our subpages.

To apply for Erasmus+ projects, please contact Division 2.4 - International Strategy. You can find further information on the Information for Faculties page.

For further information on European research funding opportunities, please refer to the EU Research Funding section on the RWTH intranet.
