MoveOn

Pultrusion is a productive and well-automated manufacturing process for profiles made of fibre-reinforced plastics. Despite its widespread use, there is a lack of detailed understanding of the process, as process-relevant variables such as the pull-off force can only be measured integrally. Especially when highly reactive matrix materials such as polyurethanes or epoxy resins are used to increase productivity, process control is challenging and requires targeted monitoring. For this purpose, a model-based process monitoring system is to be developed at IKV and integrated into the existing pultrusion line at the IKV in order to recognize the process status from various measured variables.

Task

Your work on this topic may include the following points: - Research of suitable additional sensors for the pultrusion process - Constructive integration of the sensors into an existing pultrusion die - Integration of the measurement signals into the existing LabView data acquisition system - Development, implementation and validation of models to describe the pultrusion process state (e.g. energy balance)

Requirements

Previous knowledge in composite manufacturing, sensor technology or data analysis is preferred
