MoveOn

Fiber-reinforced composites or non-reinforced thermosets (i.e. polyurethane (PU) are widely used in different industries in order to produce complex lightweight components. Sandwich parts with foamed cores are a promising possibility to reduce the weight of such components even further.Today, the production of Sandwich-parts with a foamed core and compact top coatings is a complex two-step process. The project´s goal is to produce polyurethane (PU) lightweight sandwich parts with high mechanical properties in short cycle times in a single process step. Therein, the mixing of the foamed and the compact PU systems in the cavity is crucial in order to achieve the required component properties. In addition to investigations of the production technology, the mechanical properties and the adhesion forces between core and coating material shall be tested.

Task

- Material analysis - Production of sandwich parts - Part testing

Requirements

- CAD-software knowledge - Konwledge of plastic processing - Result orientated working attitude - Team working abilities
