In addition to an outstanding range of courses and excellent research, you will also find exciting, creative leisure activities and a variety of opportunities for volunteering at RWTH and in Aachen. You can deepen your interests, gain experience and meet new people.

This page provides a brief overview of the various opportunities for volunteer work and leisure activities at the University and in Aachen.

The RWTH organizes leisure activities such as sports activities through the University Sports Center or language courses through the Language Center.
In the international meeting place Humboldt-Haus you can attend intercultural events and parties organized by the Foreigners' Representative Council (AV), INCAS or other student groups. You can find more cultural events online in the AStA calendar.

 
 

In your free time, you can get involved in a variety of ways at RWTH and in Aachen. Here are a few examples of possible activities:

  • Student-led initiatives
    There are currently about 100 accredited student independent associations at RWTH, covering all areas of interest, from sports and culture to technology, science and career development, as well as intercultural, social or sustainability concerns. You can get an overview of the accredited student independent initiatives at RWTH in the overview of student initiatives online, as well as in person at TdsI, the "Day of Student Independent Initiatives," which takes place on campus each November and May. Many student associations meet in the rooms of the Collective Incubator, which regularly hosts introductory meetings.If you are interested, you are welcome to contact the initiatives on your own at any time or find out about upcoming events via the corresponding online site.
  • Student self-administration
    This is especially suitable for students who want to help shape university life and gain (university) political experience. More information is available on the AStA website.
  • Voluntary activities in Aachen
    You can find opportunities in the volunteer database of the city of Aachen.
