Interactive Learning Platforms

Learning platforms or learning management systems are now standard components of the IT infrastructure at universities.

They refer to web-based software systems that provide digital tools and resources for teaching and learning. These include tools to:

  • manage the users, their roles, and rights regarding access to the platform
  • manage courses and participants
  • manage and structure the content of the e-learning material such as slides, lecture notes, technical literature, e-lectures, and other educational videos

Additionally, the platforms offer tools for the dissemination of information, facilitation of communication and collaboration, and enabling of formative electronic assessments. Further software tools can be integrated at defined interfaces to expand the basic function and implement customized e-learning scenarios.
