The continuous improvement of teaching and learning through meaningful use of didactically sound methods of blended learning as well as strategic and complementary international cooperations have high priority at RWTH.
In order to support the expansion of existing and initiation of strategic pioneering partnerships in teaching, the "International Cooperation Online (ICON)" competition was organized for the first time in 2021.
In the first call, 11 internationally oriented, online-based teaching formats were funded with up to 15,000 euros each. The total funding amounted to around 157,000 euros. Among the successful projects were innovative approaches to foster collaboration between students at RWTH and partner universities, as well as English-language MOOCs.
The MOOCs will be developed in collaboration between the responsible chair, CLS and, where appropriate, strategically significant partners such as the Idea League universities. A number of the MOOCs will be published on edX.
The projects run until May 2023 and successfully developed concepts will be curricularly anchored.
