Talk Lehre 2012
Students had the first word again during the second university wide Teaching Talk: AStA president, Bela Brenger, greeted the numerous guests, before Bettina Jorzik, head of the program "Lehre, Akademischer Nachwuchs" from the Stifterverband der Deutschen Wissenschaft gave her welcome address.
Both emphasized how important dialogue is for the current process of improving teaching. RWTH Aachen was recognized for its institutional strategy for teaching during the "Excellent Teaching" competition in 2009. Professor Aloys Krieg, Vice-Rector of Teaching and Learning, additionally outlined the measures and gave a brief evaluation of how successful implementation is going, and where further work and time is necessary.
Introduction of Projects
After the opening, the program continued with brief presentations, discussion rounds, and numerous poster stands. The visitors were invited to critically question the present projects with regards to how well they could be transferred to their subject and to discuss them.
In accordance with the day's topic, new teaching and learning concepts, for example in Blended Learning and in the Electronic Assessments were then introduced. In two parallel workshops, the approximately 150 participants could find out about best practice examples for the implementation of innovative teaching methods in the field of new media, as well as internships and a lecture from the Exploratory Teaching Space (ETS).
