Our international alumni activities are based on an extensive alumni network, which includes a large number of former visiting researchers from abroad who have worked and conducted research at RWTH. These so-called research alumni also consist of former German visiting researchers and alumni who are currently engaged in scientific activities abroad.

We would like to stay in touch with our research alumni and, in addition to our various communication channels, leverage professional networks to share relevant news and information for research alumni. This includes information on funding opportunities, scientific and technological developments, job opportunities in research, and much more.

Register for free as a research alumna or alumnus with our RWTH Alumni Network. Additionally, become a member of our alumni group on LinkedIn.

The Research Alumni Ideas Competition

RWTH Aachen University is one of three awardees in the Research Alumni Ideas Competition named by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in 2011.

Anyone who has conducted research in Germany and then gone on to pursue a successful academic career in another country is living proof of how valuable a research stay in Germany is.

Professor Helmut Schwarz, President of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation 2008 - 2017

In 2014, RWTH again received an award for its sustainability strategy as part of the Research Alumni Network.

The prize money made it possible to establish contacts between the research alumni, RWTH scientists, and the members of the University’s alumni network. Today, many research alums act as ambassadors of the University.

The organization of a research alumni science conference in Tokyo in 2017, titled “The Fine Line between Humans and Machines” was the highlight – and concluded – the initiative.

Currently, the Junior meets Senior mentoring program is being carried out at RWTH within the Research Alumni framework.
