A Good Academic Start in Engineering© Peter Winandy
Do you want to study engineering but don't know whether to study at FH Aachen or RWTH? The two Aachen Universities have teamed up to offer new students three special options for exactly this dilemma:
- "Semester Zero“: Orientation semester in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering
- Joint degree program "Electrical Engineering with Orientation Semester“ (ETOS)
- Joint degree program "Civil Engineering with Orientation Semester" (BIOS)
RWTH Aachen University and FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences provide new students with the opportunity to participate in orientation semesters at both universities. So, during the summer semester, students can attend a great variety of engineering classes in both locations. This makes it possible for participants to find out for themselves which university and which subject best suits them.
Aside from a program of basic courses in math, students can choose from a catalog of engineering courses; in addition, they benefit from a framework program offering participation in orientation sessions, study groups, and a “buddy scheme.”
After having gained first impressions in the summer semester, participants then choose what university and what course of study to enroll in in the upcoming winter term. Students of the current Abitur-cohort are also given the opportunity to enter the program in May. Registration typically starts at the beginning of December and ends in February/March.
