Management and Engineering in Water M.Sc.

 

Program Description

The Master of Science in Management and Engineering in Water is a unique programme conducted as a combination of two European high level universities well reputed in their specific fields. The engineering part of the program will be conducted by the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the RWTH Aachen University. This faculty sees its prior mission in training high qualified and responsible engineers in the broad field of civil engineering and environmental engineering, including water engineering, for future leading positions in industry and society. The Dutch Maastricht School of Management or MSM has a worldwide reputation for its programs in business and management teaching.

 

Degree Content

The program comprises two semesters of lectures, exercises and practical courses in engineering at RWTH Aachen University along with an eighteen-week management training at the Maastricht School of Management, MSM for short, in the Netherlands: The engineering part focuses on topics of water management, water resources and related topics. It provides in-depth knowledge and understanding in these fields.

During the management training at MSM, students are trained in small-groups to solve problems related to global transformation and sustainable competitiveness, organization development, and international project management. In addition, the RWTH School of Business and Economics contributes three management modules during the first year in Aachen.

 

Prerequisites

A prerequisite for starting studies in a first university degree, with which the necessary background education can be proven, as determined in the examination regulations. The examination board determines whether the candidate fulfills the entrance requirements.

 

Career Prospects

After successfully completing the master's programme, graduates of the program will have gained profound skills in management and engineering, being prepared for leading positions in industrial engineering companies. The M.Sc. also qualifies graduates for a further career path at universities, e.g. for PhD studies.

 

Examination Regulations

Exam regulations regulate academic goals, the course of study layout, and exam procedures. The appendix to the regulations contains the description of the modules, from which the course of study is composed.

 

Faculty

The Master course of study is offered by the Faculty of Civil Engineering in cooperation with the RWTH School of Business and Economics. The third semester takes place at MSM Maastricht School of Management.
