This Episode Consists of Four Parts:

We Need Much More Wind Energy in Germany

A Podcast With Professor Ralf Schelenz

Professor Ralf Schelenz Copyright: © Heike Lachmann Dr. Ralf Schelenz has been involved with wind energy for 25 years, since 2013 as managing director of the Center for Wind Power Drives, or CWD, at RWTH Aachen University.

In my view, there is a clear sense that the new Black-Green state government here in North Rhine-Westphalia and the new federal government in Berlin have created a climate that is positive for further expansion of renewable energies. The will is there, but we need an even stronger focus on the expansion of renewables, including wind energy.

Geothermal Energy for a Sustainable Heat Supply in Germany

A Podcast Featuring Professor Florian Wellmann

Professor Florian Wellmann in front of a drilling machine Copyright: © Michael Kettermann Florian Wellmann holds the RWTH Chair of Numerical Geosciences, Geothermal and Reservoir Geophysics and heads the Exploration and Reservoir Simulation Group at the Fraunhofer Research Institution for Energy Infrastructures and Geothermal Systems (IEG)

When it works, geothermal energy is available 24 hours seven days a week, regardless of weather conditions, regardless of other external influences. Once a system is up and running, we have a very stable source of heat for the very long term. And with that, we can help support and meet a large part of the region's heating needs.

Professor Florian Wellmann

6:28 to 10:24 on Youtube.

Establishing Hydrogen as an Energy Carrier in the Energy Industry

A Podcast Featuring Professor Stefan Pischinger

Professor Stefan Pischinger Copyright: © RWTH Aachen | TME Stefan Pischinger heads the Chair of Thermodynamics of Mobile Energy Conversion Systems, TME for short, and the Institute of Thermodynamics at RWTH Aachen University.

As scientists, we are very proud that we have the first research electrolyzers in operation and are producing green hydrogen. If you look at the absolute shares, we are at the very beginning. We should not be demotivated by this, but on the contrary, it should spur us on to do much more, and the National Hydrogen Strategy is also a driver for this.

Professor Stefan Pischinger

The Fuel Science Center – Research for Sustainable Mobility

A Podcast Featuring Bastian Lehrheuer

Bastian Lehrheuer in an engine test chamber Copyright: © Heike Lachmann Bastian Lehrheuer is managing director of the Cluster of Excellence “The Fuel Science Center – Adaptive Conversion Systems for Renewable Energy and Carbon Sources“ (FSC) at RWTH Aachen University

All over the world, intensive research is being conducted into the production and the clean and efficient use of fuels. Particularly well known are e-fuels, that is, fuels based on renewably generated electricity, and biofuels such as ethanol or biodiesel, which are the most widely used biofuels today. We at the FSC are going one step further by combining the molecules and processes from the e-fuels and biofuels to create what we call bio-hybrid fuels.

Bastian Lehrheuer, Dipl.-Ing.
