Hydrogen Clusters4Future at RWTH and Forschungszentrum Jülich host second Aachen Hydrogen Colloquium.


On April 18 and 19, the so-called Clusters4Future of RWTH Aachen University and Forschungszentrum Jülich will host the second Aachen Hydrogen Colloquium, an international conference attracting scientists from Germany and abroad. The conference provides a unique opportunity to explore and engage with research activity in the area of hydrogen technology.

Technologies under discussion include the production of hydrogen by electrolysis or biological pathways, the storage and transportation of hydrogen, and its use in the mobility sector and in industry. The effects on the environment, economy, and society are also on the agenda.

“I am convinced that hydrogen as a chemical energy carrier can and must make a major contribution to the transition to sustainable energy sources. Through research, innovation, and dialog with industry and society we can drive the growth of green hydrogen in Germany and internationally. Because our goal is clear: the development of a sustainable, climate-neutral hydrogen economy,” said Professor Stefan Pischinger, Chair of Thermodynamics of Mobile Energy Conversion Systems at RWTH Aachen University and spokesman for the Clusters4Future.

In 2021, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) selected the Hydrogen Clusters4Future as one of the seven winners of the Clusters4Future initiative. The clusters focus on opening up new areas of innovation and finding solutions to the challenges of the future. RWTH and Forschungszentrum Jülich jointly initiated the application for the clusters at the time. The BMBF is financing the research activities with up to 45 million euros.
