RWTH Cluster of Excellence to host an international conference in Aachen.

The mobility sector is facing the challenge of making tomorrow's mobility truly climate-neutral. From May 23 to 25, 2023, scientists from Germany and abroad will present and discuss research results on the development of novel fuels from renewable energy and carbon sources at the eleventh international conference "Fuel Science - From Production to Propulsion" at the Eurogress Aachen.

The event is hosted by the Cluster of Excellence "The Fuel Science Center - Adaptive Conversion Systems for Renewable Energy and Carbon Sources" (FSC) at RWTH Aachen University. The core topics of the conference include, for example, the synthesis of alternative fuels from renewable electricity and carbon dioxide, the optimization of the combustion process and exhaust gas aftertreatment of renewable fuels. It will also deal with topics like the impact of renewable fuels on the environment, economy and society. This year, sessions on the subjects of Fuel Cell, Sustainable Aviation Fuels and Drop-In Fuels are being planned for the first time. "The subject of energy carriers based on renewable resources is more relevant than ever," explains Professor Stefan Pischinger, who is the spokesperson for the Cluster of Excellence together with Professor Walter Leitner. "A scientific discussion is enormously important right now."

In all subjects, it is particularly important to consider the value chain from the perspective of the overall system for a comprehensive assessment of the level of sustainability. The event is aimed at an interdisciplinary audience of experts from science and industry. The various topics will be presented both in the form of lectures and in a poster session.
