Three Stages, Eleven Guests, One Topic: How Can We Counter the Climate Crisis?
The actor Hannes Jaenicke and the political satirist Vince Ebert are among the guests at RWTH's first GreenTech Late Night at Theater Aachen.
Talks and lectures, cabaret, music, and readings - all this will happen at RWTH Aachen University's first GreenTech Late Night. The event will take place on Monday, June 19, at 6:30pm in Theater Aachen. RWTH researchers and guests will set out in search of answers to the challenges of climate change. The evening will combine science and culture, ideas, and discussions. It will offer both quiet and loud moments and many surprises - but it will always be entertaining. The program will take place on the big stage, in the Spiegelfoyer and the Kammerspiele of the Theater Aachen. RWTH is organizing the "GreenTech Late Night" as part of the Knowledge Hub under the patronage of Federal Minister of Economics Dr. Robert Habeck.
The central issue of the evening will be how society and especially universities can counter the climate crisis. This will be addressed by both internal and external experts. Hannes Jaenicke, for example, has made a name for himself as a committed campaigner for an environment that is better for us all to live in. The actor, documentary filmmaker and environmental activist has produced various formats for ZDF that deal with the life and survival of endangered species. His book "Die große Sauerei" has recently been published.
The physicist and cabaret artist Vince Ebert is known to many viewers as the longtime host of the ARD show "Wissen vor Acht". He has been thrilling audiences with his stage shows for 20 years now. "Lichtblick statt Blackout" is the title of his latest book, and "Make science great again" is the title of the segment that he will present. He likes to promote more openness to technology instead of resorting to doomsday rhetoric.
Horst von Buttlar is one of Germany's most renowned business journalists. In Aachen, the editor-in-chief of Wirtschaftswoche will talk about the great opportunities that await companies that are equipped with a sustainability strategy for the future.
Other guests include the techno DJ and biologist Dominik Eulberg, Kelly Bencheghib, co-founder of Sungai Watch and Make A Change World, Anna Katharina Meyer, presidium member of the association Club of Rome, lawyer and climate activist Dr. Mathis Bönte, and Dr. Georg Angenendt and David Oudsandji from the Aachen start-ups Accure and Voltfang. For RWTH, Professor Dirk Uwe Sauer, Chair of Electrochemical Energy Conversion and Storage Systems Technology, and Professor Kai-Uwe Schröder, Chair of Structural Mechanics and Lightweight Design will hold a discussion on stage. The evening will be hosted by Yasmin Polat, Professor Malte Brettel, Vice-Rector for Industry and Business Relations at RWTH Aachen University, and Aachen poetry slammer Oscar Malinowski, who will welcome guests to classic late-night talks in the Spiegelfoyer.
