RWTH bietet virtuelle Exkursion zum CERN

The CMS experiment is one of the large-scale experiments at the “Large Hadron Collider” particle accelerator at CERN in Geneva. In 2012, it was instrumental in discovering the long-sought Higgs boson. Physicists, engineers and students at RWTH have built important parts of the CMS experiment and today are analyzing the data from high-energy proton collisions. The exact properties of the Higgs boson are currently being studied, and the search for new particles is being continued.

RWTHextern and the RWTH physics institutes invites you to a virtual visit to the CMS experiment in the form of an interactive live broadcast. The event offers the unique opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of this large-scale project from home. Visitors accompany the tour guide to the experiment, located 100 meters below the earth's surface, to explore the particle detector CMS.

Professors Lutz Feld and Alexander Schmidt will host and moderate the event, which will take place on Wednesday, May 8, in lecture theater H03, C.A.R.L. lecture hall complex.
