Did you acquire in-depth practical engineering expertise in the Bachelor’s program? Would you like to specialize, work independently or assume a management or leadership position in a larger company or in your own construction company? The four-semester Master’s program in civil engineering will prepare you for the complex demands of challenging construction, planning and infrastructure projects. With its eight program concentrations you can expand your expertise in many areas of civil engineering. The Master’s program promotes independent work and teaches methods of scientific problem solving. You learn to develop, plan and realize technical projects as a whole and with a view to economical, ecological and legal aspects.

We are offering the following program concentrations – one English-language-taught field of study and the others mostly taught in German:

Construction production systems and construction process management

Constructive structural engineering

Constructive engineering

Constructive hydraulic engineering

Prerequisites

A prerequisite for starting studies is a first university degree, with which the necessary background education can be proven, as determined in the exam regulations. The exam board determines whether the necessary entrance requirements are fulfilled. Recommendations with regard to the subject-related prerequisites can be found in a short overview as well as in a more detailed overview on the faculty website.

Examination Regulations

Regulations that apply for all Bachelor and Master courses of study as well as detailed information about the necessary documentation of required language skills can be found in RWTH’s Comprehensive Examination Regulation. Examination regulations are only published in German as they are legally binding.

Subject Specific Exam Regulations regulate academic goals, the course of study layout, and exam procedures. The appendix to the regulations contains the description of the modules, from which the course of study is composed.
