RWTHextern and the city of Aachen invite you to a “Uni at City Hall” event.

Around 97 percent of transactions under five euros, and three out of every four purchases are made in cash – but the trend for cashless payments is steadily growing. So how are blockchain technology, payment apps, and online payment functions changing our attitude to money? Will cash be of any use to us in the future?

At their next installment of the Uni at City Hall event series, the city and university are inviting the citizens of Aachen to the panel discussion “Will Cashless Payments Eliminate Hard Cash?” Moderated by WDR journalist Jens Tervooren, three Aachen-based experts will discuss this question and many more with the audience. The experts are Professor Paul Thomes, RWTH Chair of Economic and Social History and History of Technology, Professor Roger Bons, Information Systems, FOM University of Applied Sciences in Aachen, and Ralf Wagemann, Sparkasse Aachen, Member of the board of management. The German-language event will take place on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, 7:30pm, at the Coronation Hall at Aachen City Hall.

The event is free of charge, and prior registration is not required.
