Guinness World Record for the Heaviest Weight Lifted with Glue
Today, together with researchers from RWTH’s Welding and Joining Institute (ISF), the technology company 3M has set a new world record in gluing. After the record breaking event, a symposium was held to introduce a novel indicator adhesive.
In order to break the world record, on the 3M site in Neuss, Germany, a ten-ton truck was lifted for an hour using a regular 3M two-component adhesive. The vehicle was suspended from a crane by a cylinder only 7 cm in diameter, with the two parts of the cylinder secured together with the adhesive.
The Guinness World Records judge Olaf Kuchenbecker attended the event and officially verified the world record.
