Studies for Senior Citizens: Winter Term Program Available

03/09/2012

Studies for Senior Citizens at RWTH Aachen University is a further education opportunity within academia for older individuals who wish to pursue academic interests after their career or further their knowledge in individual fields. Now, the program of lectures, classes and events open to senior citizens in the winter semester of 2012/13 is available.

Many classes regularly offered by the university are open to senior citizens. Additionally, there are special events by instructors or senior citizen students themselves, who offer these events to their own target group. Once again on offer is the popular Wednesday Seminar, providing contributions from the various faculties: lectures range from topics such as “How Can I Reduce the Risk of a Stroke?” and “Contending Superpowers: China and the West” to “Germany – One Year after the So-called Energy Transformation”. As a special highlight, there is an excursion to the “Grube Wohlfahrt” ore mine and mining museum in Rescheid-Hellenthal in the Eifel region.

Senior citizens participating in the program have the opportunity to plan their individual timetable from all classes on offer. Participants are required to pay a participation fee of 100 Euros; under special circumstances, however, a fee waiver may be available.
