The process is shaped by legal guidelines, such as the Higher Education Act, and numerous internal university regulations, such as the process regulation or appointment regulation. Comprehensive aid (de) is available to the faculties and appointment committees during the appointment process.

Have you applied for an available professorship? The appointment monitor (de) provides you with up to date information about the status of your appointment process. You can view the monitor using the reference number you received upon confirmation that we received your application.
Welcome Service for Professors
The RWTH Aachen Welcome Service for Professors offers newly appointed professors and their families comprehensive support to make their start at RWTH and in Aachen as easy as possible. The Welcome Center gladly serves as the central point of contact and networks and provides technical and skilled advising from the respective service centers. Whether it be activating a central email address, information about funding opportunities and research clusters, or help in finding a job for one's partner: We know who can help you.
Dual Career Service
The Dual Career Service supports the partners of newly appointed RWTH Aachen researchers from Germany and abroad with finding a job. We provide comprehensive aid once the appointment process has begun.
Family Services Center and Family-Friendly University
The Family Services Center is an advising and resource center for all university members expecting a child or who are already parents. It significantly contributes to the development of individual and well-fitting supervising strategies, which enables university members to balance family and employment or studies long term.
An important component of the future-oriented promotion of university members is family-friendly human resources management, that include responsible and sensitive treatment of topics such as childcare and care for family members on the part of management. This enables better compatability between family and career, which is simultaneously the first prerequisite for equal treatment of men and women. Life in Aachen and the Region
Aachen is the westernmost city in Germany, where the borders of three countries come together. It is the center of a dynamic, international region of knowledge and stands for a worldwide renowned university education in natural and engineering sciences. Program for Excellent Management in Science
RWTH Aachen accompanies professors in assuming and managing their different roles as researchers, teachers, and managers with the Program for Excellent Management in Science, PROFIS for short. Special services for newly appointed professors are bundled into starter kits and services to support arriving and settling into the research operations at RWTH Aachen.
Service for International Applicants from Abroad
RWTH Aachen considers successful integration as one of the most important prerequisites for a successful stay. Newly appointed professors from abroad receive individual support when preparing for their stay as well as upon their arrival in their new environment and in everyday life. Comprehensive and diverse information and services, such as visa and other formalities, language courses, housing, social and family services, as well as recreational possibilities are to make integration easier for internationally mobile professors.
