Prof. Ulrich Simon New Senate Chair
During its first winter semester session, the Senate unanimously voted Univ.-Prof. Dr. rer.nat Ulrich Simon at the new chair of the university board. The 49 year old scientists has held the Chair of Inorganic Chemistry and Electrochemistry at RWTH Aachen since 2000. He will preside as chair for the next two years. The Senate is a central body at the university, the members of which represent all groups. Its most important responsibilities include the issuance and change of the university's constitution, the confirmation of the selection of Rectorate members, and the confirmation of the list of members for the Board of Governors. The Senate also awards academic honors.
