Interreg Program Project – youRegion

In the youRegion project, RWTH’s Division 8.5 - Appointment Management and Civil Servants - is establishing a cross-border career network together with their project partners. The division aims to support international partners of our scientists in their job search in the Interreg Euregio Meuse-Rhine area, which covers parts of Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany, including the Aachen region. Access to the cross-border regional labor market should be simplified through good and personal networking with universities and international companies in this Euregion.

What Are Interreg Projects?

Interreg, or as it is officially called European Territorial Cooperation, is part of the European Union’s structural and investment policy. For more than 20 years now, it has provided (financial) support for cross-border cooperations between regions and cities in matters that influence daily life, for example transportation, the labor market, and environmental protection.

The INTERREG-V-A Euregio Meuse-Rhine project, youRegion, primarily aims to improve the cross-border working situation in the area in order to realize a 360° labor market that is not constrained by borders nor the region’s peripheral status as viewed from a national perspective.

The youRegion project wants to make a noticeable contribution to recruiting and retaining skilled workers for the region.

On the one hand, the project aims to better coordinate existing cross-border advisory and mediation structures, coordinate them across the Euregion and, if possible, also expand them.

The aim is to set up so-called one-stop shops where (new) citizens and their families, (potential) border commuters, and employers will receive personal and comprehensive advice and support. Self-employed citizens, freelancers, artists, and others may also take advantage of this offer. One of the specific goals of the project is to establish a border information point in Eupen, which is modelled on the successful border information points in Aachen/Eurode and Maastricht.
