Dr. Christina Büsing, academic staff member at the RWTH Aachen Chair of Operations Research, has been accepted to the Junge Kolleg of the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences, Humanities and the Arts. Acceptance to the Academy is one of the most meaningful honors in North Rhein-Westphalia.

Up to 30 outstanding young academics from all disciplines can be accepted for up to four years. Scholars may not be older than 36. Members annually receive a 10000 Euro research grant and travel funds.

Büsing, 30 years old and born in Heidelberg, studied mathematics in Münster, Madrid, and Berlin. She completed her doctoral studies at TU Berlin and after her post-doc started at the RWTH Aachen Chair of Operations Research in May 2012. There she gives lectures on combinatorial optimization, advises Bachelor and Master students and doctoral candidates, and conducts research on the applications of adaptive robust optimization.
