Talk by Cosmonaut Sigmund Jähn

Dr. Sigmund Jähn, former cosmonaut and the first German in space, will be giving a talk titled "German Contributions to Rocket Development and Manned Space Missions" on Monday, January 14, 2013 at 5:30pm at Couven-Halle, Kármánstr. 17-19 in Aachen. All those interested are welcome to attend!

 

The event is part of the "Leondaro" project, with which RWTH Aachen promotes interdisciplinary teaching. It is hosted by the Economic and Social History Teaching and Research Area. The talk is supported by the Association of Friends and Supporters of the School of Business and Economics.

Jähn started in 1978 with the Soyuz 31 mission to the Soviet space station Salyut. After seven days he returned to Earth. Numerous honors document his services for the history of space travel. After his space flight, Jähn became the head of the Center for Cosmic Training of Air Force in the GDR. He now advises the German Aerospace Center and the European Space Agency, esa for short.
