Promoting Diversity
RWTH Aachen could celebrate one honor as the German Diversity Award was awarded for the first time in 2011. The Aachen university pulled through against its competitors in the category "Most Diverse Employer". An RWTH Aachen professor will help decide who is among the 2013 award winners: Univ.-Prof. Dr.phil. Carmen Leicht-Scholten is part of the jury this year along with Dr. Kristina Schröder, Prof. Dr. Rita Süssmuth, Frank Mattern (McKinsey), and Roland Tichy (WirtschaftsWoche).
Prof. Carmen Leicht-Scholten has been Professor of Gender and Diversity at RWTH Aachen, located within the Faculty of Civil Engineering, since January 2012. The task of the professorship is to bring gender and diversity perspectives into the engineering subjects. The teaching and research area is also oriented towards intensifying interdisciplinary communication between the engineering, natural, social, and economic sciences.
Employers and individuals can apply for the 2013 German Diversity Prize till February 28. Innovative projects, that successfully use diversity and diversity management in a targeted fashion and that implement themselves for a diverse work culture in German are honored. The prize is awarded by McKinsey and Wirtschaftswochen. Dr. Kristina Schröder, Federal Minister of Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women, and Youth is the patron of the award.
