RWTH is expecting more than 1,200 new international students to start their studies in winter semester 2019/2020. The University would like to welcome them with a special week of orientation events called Welcome Week, which runs from September 23 to 27. This series of events is intended to ease their transition to studying in Aachen.
"Many newcomers are leaving their homes and families for a long period for the first time. The unfamiliar environment and new learning and teaching methods both pose a challenge for them," says Maddy Ruppé from the University’s International Office.
The students therefore find out about the central advising services and their contacts for the individual faculties in a series of talks held in English. The Foreigners' Office of the City Region of Aachen, the Citizens' Service of the City of Aachen, and Aachen City Library will also be at RWTH to offer guidance for the new students. The week also features a varied program of guided tours of the University grounds, libraries, sports facilities, workshops, and possible leisure events.
