The Schüßler Prize has now been presented for the twenty-fifth time at RWTH Aachen University. This year Carolin Bock, Carolin Brandt and Jonathon Hartman received the award, who are studying civil engineering at RWTH. The award recipients were selected based on their outstanding academic performance and their civic engagement. The award promotes budding civil and industrial engineering students with a 5,000 Euro scholarship for study abroad.

At the award ceremony at the RWTH Guesthouse, the academic prize was awarded by Norbert Schüßler, managing director of Schüßler-Plan GmbH, and Professor Joseph Hegger, vice-dean of the RWTH Faculty of Civil Engineering. Cornelia Zuschke, municipal commissioner of the City of Düsseldorf, gave the keynote speech,  emphasizing the role of structural engineering in enhancing the urban quality of life.

"The Schüßler Prize has a longstanding tradition. Over the past 25 years, we have been able to honor 55 students for their outstanding academic achievements and their social engagement and to offer them opportunities for personal development. I am delighted to be able to continue this tradition this year as well," said Norbert Schüßler.

Master’s students Carolin Bock and Carolin Brandt are about to embark on their study abroad project in Canada. Carolin Bock will spend one semester at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Carolin Brandt will go to the École de Technologie Supérieure in Montréal. Born in the United States, fourth-year Bachelor’s student Jonathon Hartman will gain further experience for his professional and personal future at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in Barcelona.

The Schüßler Prize was awarded for the first time in 1995 by the company's founder, Willi Schüßler. Together with RWTH the company annually awards the prize to the University's best civil and industrial engineering students.
