In June 2013, Professor Ute Habel, Head Psychologist at the Department of Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics at University Hospital Aachen, presented the results of her neuropsychological research on gender at the German Center of Research and Innovation, New York.

Prof. Habel held her presentation as part of the “The Neurosciene of Gender” event, which provided a forum for expert discussions on male and female brains and the influence of sex hormones and stress on human behavior. The goal of the event, which was co-sponsored by RWTH Aachen, was also to give participants the opportunity to make international contacts and initiate future collaboration.

Habel studied Psychology in Trier and Tübingen. After employment and research activity at University Hospital Tübingen, Forschungszentrum Jülich, the University of Düsseldorf, and Medical University Vienna, Habel came to RWTH Aachen University in 2005. She is actively involved in the JARA-Brain section of the Jülich Aachen Research Alliance and a member of the University’s Strategy Board. In 2011, she was appointed Rector’s Delegate for Cooperation with USA and Canada.
