RWTH Explains the Nobel Prize in Chemistry
On Monday, December 2, Professor Rüdiger-Albert Eichel, Chair of Material and Processes of Electrochemical Energy Storage and Conversion at RWTH Aachen University and Director of the Institute of Energy and Climate Research, Forschungszentrum Jülich, will give a talk on the 2019 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
This year’s Nobel Prize in Chemistry has been awarded to John Goodenough, USA; Stanley Whittingham, UK; and Akira Yoshino, Japan for the development of lithium-ion batteries.
These lightweight, rechargeable and powerful batteries are now being used in everything from mobile phones to laptops and electric vehicles. They can also store significant amounts of energy from solar and wind power, which brings us closer to achieving a fossil fuel-free society.
The talk, which will be given in German, is scheduled to begin at 6:30pm in lecture theater H05, C.A.R.L., Claßenstraße 11, Aachen. Admission is free, no registration is required.
