Lecture Series: Chemical Weapons – A Very Current and Necessary Topic of Debate
Although chemical weapons have been banned internationally since 1997, they are still being used today - for example, in the attacks on Navalny and Skripal or the Syrian civil war. It is speculated that Russia may plan to use chemical weapons in the Ukraine war. This lecture series will explain what chemical weapons are, how to detect them, and what role politics play. The series concludes with a panel discussion on research related to national security. After all, chemical weapons highlight the risk that research results can sometimes be used in highly undesirable ways.
Please note that the lectures will be held in German unless otherwise noted.
