IFK Conference: Fluid Power Sector Prepares for the Future

21/03/2014

The International Fluid Power Conference IFK is one of the world's largest conferences in the field and provides a forum for exchange for experts in the areas of hydraulic and pneumatic drives and control systems. The biennial conference is alternately organized by the Institute for Fluid Power Drives and Controls at RWTH Aachen and the Institute of Fluid Power at TU Dresden. This year, the IFK conference is scheduled to take place between March 24 and 26 in Aachen.

This year, in addition to presenting innovations in the field, the IFK conference will focus on changing markets and market conditions and the resulting consequences for the fluid power sector, which is affected by globalization and the resulting shift of power towards the Far East. In general, there is the need to develop drives with increased efficiency; another goal is to meet new energy demands created by the shift to renewable energy through innovative solutions.

Against this background, under the motto of “Modern Fluid Power – Challenges, Responsibilities, Markets,” new trends in research and development will be discussed. As Professor Hubertus Murrenhoff, Head of the Institute for Fluid Power Drives and Controls,  explains:  “We in the fluid power sector have the goal to remain the market leader – for this reason, we have to make the sector ready for the future, strengthening our position through more efficient  and more intelligent products.”
