Researchers From Around the World to Discuss Future Biofuels
Between June 16 and 18, 2014, RWTH Aachen will host biofuel experts from all over the world, on the occasion of the second TMFB International conference organized by the Excellence Cluster “Tailor-Made Fuels from Biomass.”
Attendants can look forward to a broad range of talks and presentations from international experts on the synthesis, production, and combustion of biofuels. Furthermore, representatives from the Cluster will present their latest research results. Also, there will be a poster session for junior researchers as well as multiple opportunities for discussion and exchange between the participants from research, business and industry.
As Professor Stefan Pischinger explains: “What is special about our excellence cluster is the interdisciplinary collaboration between researchers from chemistry, biology, process engineering, mechanical engineering, and other relevant fields. We are looking forward to sharing this spirit of inquiry with all participants in the TMFB International Conference.”
Keynote speakers include Wai Cheng, Director of the Sloan Automotive Laboratory and Professor of Mechanical Engineering at MIT, Cambridge, USA, and George Huber, Professor of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA.
The TMFB Excellence Cluster
The Excellence Cluster Tailor-Made Fuels from Biomass was established in 2007 as part of the Excellence Initiative of the German federal and state governments to promote excellence in science and research at German universities.
Since 2007, 31 research groups have been conducting research on the development of sustainable fuels that do not compete with the food chain. Participating institutions include RWTH Aachen, the Max Planck Institut für Kohlenforschung, and the Fraunhofer Institute for Molecular Biology and Applied Ecology.
