A Political Balladeer – Walther von der Vogelweide
Walther von der Vogelweide: Minstrel and first political balladeer
After conducting research for ten years, RWTH Professor Dr. Thomas Bein published a new scientific issue of Walther von der Vogelweide's texts in summer 2013. The issue sheds new light on the poet and his work.
On this occassion, the Citizen's Forum RWTHextern is combining a presentation, minstrel singing, and a discussion about the famous bard from the Middel Ages. During the event "Walther von der Vogelweide – Minstrel and First Political Balladeer" his life and work will be presented and illustrated with pictures and texts. In order to enable a deeper look at the language of that time, original texts in Middle High German will also be recited. Futhermore minstrel singer Holger Schäfer will sing a few songs with musical accompaniment.
The event will take place on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at 7pm in Hörsaal 3 of Kármán Auditorium, Eilfschornsteinstraße 15. Registration is not required and admission is free of charge.
