A total of 6,100 students from 95 different countries are taking part in this year's CFA Institute Research Challenge. In this competition, participants work in teams to produce a security analysis of listed companies and test their academic knowledge.
Three teams competed in Frankfurt am Main to win the German title. The RWTH students managed to fight off competition from the WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management and the Technical University of Munich teams with their analysis and evaluation of the company Beiersdorf AG.
The team from Aachen has thus qualified for the next round and will compete against university teams from Europe, the Middle East, and Asia in Jordan at the beginning of April. The winners of this round will take part in the grand final in New York on April 22.
Simone Cornelißen, Tessa Dannenberg, Vincent Philipp Brix Fischer, Maximilian Michaelsen, and Linda Weikl are all Master's students in business administration or industrial engineering at RWTH. Dr. Astrid Salzmann, lecturer at the RWTH Department of Finance, is supervising the team.
CFA Society Germany, the professional association for investment managers and professional investors, has honored the students’ outstanding commitment with a scholarship to take a CFA certificate.
