The Aluminum Summer School 2014 is scheduled to take place between July 28 and August 1, 2014 at RWTH Aachen.
The international Aluminum Summer School will take place at RWTH Aachen this year. The host of this year's conference, taking place from July 28 to August 1, 2014, is the RWTH Foundry Institute under the direction of Professor Andreas Bührig-Polaczek.
The summer school is jointly organized by NTNU Trondheim, Norway, the Worcester Polytechnic Institute, USA, the University of Padua, Italy, and RWTH Aachen University. It takes place every two to three years at alternating international locations.
The core topic of the summer school is the processing of light metal alloys. Additional fundamental topics include chill casting, pressure casting, continuous casting, simulation, recycling, and heat treatment.
An additional aspect is application examples that will be presented by well-known industrial companies; here, the focus in on the automotive industry. The event offers an overview of the most modern production techniques of light metal components that are of interest both for research and for industrial development.
