The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering plans  to implement a platform which provides students with an overview of study abroad opportunities: the "Out-o-Mat"

The faculty presented the concept during a conference on the “Go out! Study Worldwide” initiative launched in 2006 by the German Academic Exchange Service and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. Ten innovative strategies to enhance student mobility, including the Out-o-Mat, received prize money in the amount of 10000 Euros each.

The tool, which takes its cue from the "Wahl-o-Mat," an application by the Federal Agency for Civic Education, makes it possible for students to generate an overview of study abroad opportunities that fits the individual student’s profile and provides a basis for detailed advice from both study abroad advisors and the RWTH International Office.

The Out-o-Mat is to encourage students to participate in a study or internship abroad program and to support them in organizational matters. In the medium term, the platform is to be enhanced so as to include opportunities for instructors and provide information on the recognition of credits.

The tool will be designed and implemented in the upcoming academic year. Students are invited to participate in workshops and contribute to the design process.
