Indonesian Ambassador Visits RWTH

Arif Havas Oegroseno, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Federal Republic of Germany, recently visited RWTH. Besides representatives of the University, he also met with Rudolf Henke, member of the German Bundestag. The delegation program focused on research projects relating to alternative energy sources.

RWTH traditionally maintains close relations with Indonesian universities and has even cooperated with Universitas Gadjah Mada to establish a joint research campus, GetIn-CICERO, at the university. This research venture is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

During the delegation’s visit, Professor Malte Brettel, vice-rector for industry and business relations at RWTH, clarified best practice examples of research ideas that have been turned into real products thanks to cooperations with industry. Further, Professor Alexander Preuße, vice-dean of the Faculty of Georesources and Materials Engineering at RWTH, presented research on geothermal energy and the cooperation with the newly established Fraunhofer Institute for Energy Infrastructures and Geothermal Energy. The Rector’s Delegate for Indonesia, Professor Thomas R. Rüde, accompanied the visit, which ended with a guided tour of the Center for Wind Power Drives and e.GO Mobile AG.
