The Transformation of Gainful Employment
From October 1-2, 2014, the 18th GTW Autumn Conference will take place at RWTH Aachen, titled "The Transformation of Gainful Employment – New Vocational Profiles and Concepts for the Commercial-Technological Pedagogies."
The RWTH Institute of Industrial Engineering and Ergonomics and the Department of Educational Science will host this year’s conference of the “Commercial-Technological Sciences and their Pedagogies” working community, gtw for short, an institution of the Ergonomics Society (Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Gesellschaft für Arbeitswissenschaft e.V.).
About 120 researchers and teachers are expected to participate in the conference held in the SuperC Building, RWTH Aachen, Templergraben 57.
The conference will focus on changes in industry and their effects, in particular on the methodological requirements posed by these changes for the vocational sciences. What are the consequences for the pedagogies? What does professional work in the future look like, and how is it organized? Key topics include Industry 4.0, sustainable developments in vocational education, globalization, demographic change, and training of teachers in commercial-technological subjects at vocational schools.
Furthermore, the gtw Science Award 2014 will be presented at the conference.
Immediately prior to the conference, on October 1, 2014, between 9am and 1pm, there will be a workshop on the topic of “Teacher Training and Education: Models of Cooperation between Universities and Universities of Applied Sciences.” Interested teachers are invited to attend the workshop.
