48th Essen Conference on Water and Waste Management

13/03/2015

Under the motto of “Research Meets Practice”, the 48th Essen Conference on Water and Waste Management will take place between April 15 and 17, 2014, at the Eurogress Conference Center in Aachen.

The event is organized and hosted by the RWTH Chair of Environmental Engineering, the Research Institute for Water and Waste Management at RWTH Aachen, the Institute for the Promotion of Water Quality and Water Resources Management, and the NRW Ministery for Climate Protection, Environment, Agriculture, Nature Conservation and Consumer Protection.

About 1000 participants are expected to attend the conference, in which 70 expert talks will provide an overview of the state of the art in research in water and waste management.

Waste Water and Hygiene

This year, the conference focuses on the topics of waste water and hygiene, with presentations on waste water treatment and water contamination: What are the possibilities of disinfection? What can be done to achieve a reduction in legionellae?

Another topic under discussion is the danger posed by alternating periods of intense rain and periods of drought, largely due to climate change, on sewage networks and urban infrastructures.

Additionally, at the conference fair and exhibition, companies and research institutions will present their activities, products and services. Two technical excursions on Friday, April 17, 2014, will provide participants with a glance at actual practice.

Please note that the conference language is German.
