RWTH Again with Top Marks in International Ranking
RWTH Aachen University once again enjoys top marks in many areas in the international university ranking U-Multirank, scoring particularly well in the areas of research, knowledge transfer, and international orientation.
The U-Multirank is initiated and financed by the European Commission and follows a multidimensional approach. In contrast to many other international rankings, U-Multirank awards scores ranging from “very good” to “weak” for a large number of indicators, allowing for a personalized comparison of universities based on individual criteria.
Overall, RWTH received scores of “very good” and “good” for 23 of the 32 indicators that were evaluated. Across all indicators, the university thus received an average grade of 2.06, a slight improvement over the previous year (2.18). Research performance is rated particularly highly. Here, RWTH scores above average in all categories and achieves the best marks in five of nine indicators.
The university also stands out again in terms of knowledge transfer. The score of “very good” was awarded for indicators such as private research funds, spin-offs, patent publications, and the number of publications in cooperation with partners from industry. RWTH also achieved above average results for all ranked indicators in international orientation, having been awarded exclusively “very good” and ”good” scores. In two areas, RWTH was even able to improve on its position since the last survey a year ago: in the proportion of international staff and the percentage of foreign-language master's degree courses.
