Prof. Tae Jin Kang Receives RWTH Aachen Kármán Fellowship

Professor Tae Jin Kang, Seoul National University, was awarded the RWTH Aachen University Kármán Fellowship on July 17, 2015. Professor Kan is one of the most renowned professors in textile research in Korea. His involvement in the project Dream2Lab2Fab has been the foundation for collaboration with the Institute of Textile Engineering, ITA, at RWTH Aachen University.
Dream2Lab2Fab refers to a planned research center in Korea, which will serve the market potential of smart textiles for small and mid-sized companies using the skills of German and Korean scientists.
The goal of the Theodor von Kármán Fellowship is to more strongly network the interdisciplinary exchange of renowned visiting scientists from around the world with the University. As a high tech location, Korean is a country of focus for RWTH Aachen in scientific funding. The award ceremony was held at the Institute of Textile Engineering, ITA, at RWTH Aachen.
"We are currently planning a joint project on adaptive security clothing," summarized Professor Gries. "The award ceremony gives us the chance to increase the speed with which the project is realized."
