Workshop on the Topic of Plant Protection
The RWTH Institute of Biology III (Plant Physiology) will host the international workshop “PR Proteins and Induced Resistance against Pathogens and Insects”, taking place between September 6 and 10 in Aachen.
The PR Proteins and Induced Resistance workshop, a merger of the ‘PR Proteins Workshop’ and the ‘Working Group Induced Resistance in Plants Against Insects and Diseases’ of the International Organization of Biological Control (IOBC-WPRS), serves as a platform for experts from academia, research, industry and administration todiscuss the latest research on induced plant resistance against pathogens and insects.
The topic is of great relevance, as about 9.7 billion people will depend on plant-based food by the year 2050.
As the use of pesticides is to be reduced, scientists investigate methods to activate plants’ defense system to protect them from pathogens and droughts and thus to achieve high crop yields in an environmentally friendly way.
The workshop will cover fundamental and applied aspects.
