RWTH – A Top Entrepreneurial University

According to a recent evaluation by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, in the 2019/2020 funding period, RWTH was among the top universities for the support of start-up projects.

 

With 19 approved grants in the EXIST program – three funded research transfer projects and 16 approved start-up grants – RWTH and Uniklinik RWTH Aachen rank second in a nationwide comparison of universities.

For 13 years now, RWTH has been offering students and researchers support with applications for the two EXIST funding lines, Business Start-up Grants and Transfer of Research. Looking back on the 13-year history of EXIST, between 2007 and 2019, University members received funding for 17 research transfer projects and 90 start-up grants. With a total of 107 approved grants, RWTH is ranked third nationally when it comes to the acquisition of EXIST funding.

EXIST, an initiative from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, aims to help establish a culture of entrepreneurship at German universities and to promote the translation of research findings into economic activity.
