RWTH Alumni Meet with Young Talents
At the 2015 Graduate Celebration, RWTH alumni celebrated their golden and silver jubilees together with outstanding graduates and doctoral candidates who received the Springorum Medal or Borchers Badge.
A total of seven golden jubilarians and 43 silver jubilarians, who received their doctoral degree from RWTH Aachen 50 and 25 years ago, attended at Rector Professor Ernst Schmachtenberg's invitation to celebrate their doctoral jubilees and accept their renewal certificates in the proRWTH pavilion.
Subsequently, the faculty deans honored this year’s outstanding graduates. Traditionally, this special recognition is given at the proRWTH gala to those who completed their studies or doctoral degree with honors.
This year, proRWTH member of the Board honored 383 young academics: 156 doctoral graduates, who passed their doctoral examinations "summa cum laude," received the Borchers Badge. 225 graduates were honored with the Springorum Medal.
In his address to the jubilarians and graduates, silver jubilarian Dr. Jürgen Rößeler, managing partner at Pirlet & Partner Bauingenieurgesellschaft, emphasized the lasting ties between RWTH alumni and the University. “When I talk to former RWTH Aachen students, right away there is a sort of invisible bond beteween us.”
