Virtual Welcome Weeks to start September 1, 2020
We would like to warmly welcome international students at RWTH Aachen University with a virtual support program. We will not let coronavirus bring us down!
Among the 8,000 students starting their studies at RWTH Aachen University in the winter semester, more than 2,000 first-year students have an international background. For winter semester 2020/21, the International Office will welcome the new international students with a newly designed online support program, thus ensuring a good start and transition to RWTH Aachen University.
The online Welcome Weeks take place from September 1 to October 23, 2020 and start with an official kick-off event. Students will receive important information about studying and living in Aachen and a short intercultural training to prepare them for German life. Rector Professor Ulrich Rüdiger will award the DAAD Prize 2020 to one particularly committed international student.
During the online Welcome Week, there will be different virtual information events, lectures, and advising sessions, which are specifically designed to meet the needs and interests of the international students. Organizational, subject-related, and residence law issues are explained in detail by the respective advisors. At the digital Freshers' Fair and the Global Village, students can get to know RWTH's central advisory offices and the many international student associations.
The Foreigners' Office of the City Region, the Citizens' Service of the City of Aachen, the Catholic University Community, and the Protestant Student Community are also available as external partners. The Faculty Fair offers students the opportunity to get to know the student councils and student advisors of their own faculties.
Guided tours in small groups through the central campus, library tours, online offers such as sports, intercultural workshops, and a variety of recreational events through the student associations guarantee a diverse and exciting program!
RWTH students who support the International Office during the Welcome Week can have their contribution recognized within the framework of the Certificate International program.
